Οὗτος δοκεῖ ἐν τοῖς ἄστροις τεθῆναι δι’ Ἥραν, ὅτι μόνος Ἡρακλεῖ τῶν ἄλλων συμμαχούντων ὅτε τὴν ὕδραν ἀνῄρει, ἐκ τῆς λίμνης ἐκπηδήσας ἔδακεν αὐτοῦ τὸν πόδα, καθάπερ φησὶ Πανύασις ἐν Ἡρακλείᾳ· θυμωθεὶς δ’ ὁ Ἡρακλῆς δοκεῖ τῷ ποδὶ συνθλάσαι αὐτόν, ὅθεν μεγάλης τιμῆς τετύχηκε καταριθμούμενος ἐν τοῖς ιβ′ ζῳδίοις. Καλοῦνται δέ τινες αὐτῶν ἀστέρες Ὄνοι, οὓς Διόνυσος ἀνήγαγεν εἰς τὰ ἄστρα. Ἔστι δὲ αὐτοῖς καὶ Φάτνη παράσημον· ἡ δὲ τούτων ἱστορία αὕτη· Ὄνων καὶ Φάτνης. Ὅτε ἐπὶ Γίγαντας ἐστρατεύοντο οἱ Θεοί, λέγεται Διόνυσον καὶ Ἥφαιστον καὶ Σατύρους ἐπὶ ὄνων πορεύεσθαι· οὔπω δὲ ἑωραμένων αὐτοῖς τῶν Γιγάντων πλησίον ὄντες ὠγκήθησαν οἱ ὄνοι, οἱ δὲ Γίγαντες ἀκούσαντες τὴν φωνὴν ἔφυγον· διὸ ἐτιμήθησαν ἐν τῷ Καρκίνῳ εἶναι ἐπὶ δυσμάς.
　

Ἔχει δὲ ὁ Καρκίνος ἐπὶ τοῦ ὀστράκου ἀστέρας λαμπροὺς β′, οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ Ὄνοι· τὸ δὲ νεφέλιόν ἐστιν ἡ ἐν αὐτῷ ὁρωμένη Φάτνη, παρ’ ᾗ δοκοῦσιν ἑστάναι· ἐπὶ τοῖς δεξιοῖς ποσὶν ἐφ’ ἑκάστῳ α′ ἀμαυρόν, ἐπὶ δὲ τοῖς ἀριστεροῖς τοῦ πρώτου β′ ἀμαυροὺς καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ δευτέρου β′, καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ τρίτου α′, ὁμοίως ἐπ’ ἄκρας τοῦ τετάρτου α′, ἐπὶ τοῦ στόματος α′ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς χηλῆς τῆς δεξιᾶς γ′, ὁμοίως οὐ μεγάλους ἐπὶ τῆς ἀριστερᾶς χηλῆς β′· οἱ πάντες ιη′.

かに座（，ろば，ゆりかご） (ギリシャ語直訳版)

　蟹はヘラにより天空におかれたと云われる。ヘラクレスがヒドラと戦ったとき、蟹は湖から飛び出して彼の足に触れた(噛んだ)ので。パンヤシスは『ヘラクレス』の中でこのように書いている。ヘラクレスは怒り，その足で蟹を踏みつぶした。それでこの蟹は１２星座の中に数えられた。

Quelques-unes de ses étoiles sont nominées les ânes, mis au nombre des astres par Bacchus, et avec eux est aussi la crèche, dont voici quelle est l'histoire: Lorsque les dieux combattaient contre les géants , Bacchus , Vulcain et les satyres montés sur des ânes partirent pour le combat. Ils n’étaient pas encore arrivés à la vue des géants, que les ânes se mirent à braire, avec un tel bruit que les géants s'enfuirent de peur.
