Κηφέως

Οὗτος ἐν τάξει τέτακται τέταρτος· ὁ δ’ ἀρκτικὸς κύκλος αὐτὸν ἀπολαμβάνει ἀπὸ ποδῶν ἕως στήθους· τὸ δὲ λοιπὸν εἰς τὸ ἀνὰ μέσον πίπτει αὐτοῦ τοῦ τε ἀρκτικοῦ καὶ θερινοῦ τροπικοῦ· ἦν δέ, ὡς Εὐριπίδης φησίν, Αἰθιόπων βασιλεύς, Ἀνδρομέδας δὲ πατήρ· τὴν δ’ αὑτοῦ θυγατέρα δοκεῖ προθεῖναι τῷ κήτει βοράν, ἣν Περσεὺς ὁ Διὸς διέσωσε· δι’ ἣν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν τοῖς ἄστροις ἐτέθη Ἀθηνᾶς γνώμῃ.

ケフェウス座 (ギリシャ語直訳版)

この星座は4位にランクされます。北極圏に足から胸まであります。残りは、北極圏と夏の回帰線の中に位置する。エウリピデスが云う様に、彼はエチオピアの王でした。そして、アンドロメダの父であり、夜明け前に自分の娘をさらしたと云われている。ゼウスの(子)ペルセウスが彼女を救い、その理由により、アテーナーの意見で彼も星の中に置かれた。

　この星座には、頭には２個の明るい星があり、肩に１個、それぞれの手に１個、肘に１個、斜めのベルトに暗い星が３個、腹に明るい星が１個あります。右腰に１個、左膝に２個、足に４個、端の足に１個。全てで15個。

Cette constellation est mise la quatrième en rang. Le cercle arctique la contient depuis les pieds jusque à la poitrine. Le reste atteint jusqu'au milieu de l'intervalle de ce cercle au tropique d’été.

C'était, dit Euripide, un roi d'Éthiopie, père d’Andromède qu'il exposa, dit-on, à un monstre. Mais Persée, fils de Jupiter, la sauva, et fut mis pour cela au nombre des astres par la protection de Minerve.

Cette constellation a deux étoiles brillantes à la tête, une à chaque épaule, une à chaque main, une à chaque coude, trois obliques et obscures à la ceinture, une brillante au milieu du ventre, une au flanc droit, une au genou, et une au bout du pied; en tout, quinze.

This constellation is put the fourth in rank. The arctic circle contains it for the feet until the chest. The remainder reaches until in the middle of the interval of this circle to the tropical summery.

It was, said Euripide, a king of Ethiopie, father of Andromede that he exposed, one said, to a monster. But Persee, son of Jupiter, saved it, and was put for it to the number of the stars by the protection of Minerve.

This constellation has two brilliant stars to her suckles, one to each shoulder, one to each hand, one to each elbow, three oblique muscle and dark to the belt, one brilliant to the middle of belly, one to the right flank, one to the knee, and one to the tip of foot; in all, fifteen.

　Cepheus in ordine quarto loco positus est, quem septentrionalis circulus occupat a pedibus usque ad pectus; reliquus medius est arctico et aestivo Tropico. Erat ille, sicut Euripides scribit, Aethiopum rex , Andromedae pater, qui filiam suam Ceto creditur exposuisse. Eam Perseus Jovis filius servavit ; quam ob rem et ipse pater benesicio Minervae astris illatus est.

　Habet quidem stellas in capite splendidas duas; in singulis humeris singulas; in singulis manibus fingulas; in singulis cubitis singulas; in zona 3 obliquas et obscuras; in medio ventre unam claram; in dextero latere unam; in genu unam; in pede ultimo unam. Sunt omnes quindecim.
